Myths and models

Community Energy Coordinator David Neyle put together this overview of EV myths and models for our EV show and tell event in October 2023. (There’s no sound, just images. Runtime 2:05)

Converting to an EV is the fastest way to reduce your fossil fuel use, at the same time significantly reducing your cost of transport.

NRMA resources

NRMA has some excellent overview resources for people thinking about buying an electric vehicle. NRMA is also the provider of EV charging stations in NSW. Their Electric Vehicle Hub has a wealth of information with ongoing updates, including the following pages.

Finding and using public chargers

The major networks are NRMA, Chargefox, Evie Charging and Tesla. There is a wide range of public charging infrastructure and these are operated by a number of different providers. Each provider has a phone app (Google Play or Apple) which you use to interact with and pay for your charging session.

Public chargers close to Cobargo, NSW

  • NRMA fast chargers in Bega (1) and Bateman’s Bay (2)
  • Tesla fast chargers in Narooma (open to non-Tesla cars)
  • Chargefox AC chargers (up to 22 kW depending on your car) in Cobargo, Bermagui and coming soon to Tathra, making up our own local EV tourist drive.
  • Also if you are heading further afield, there are currently fast chargers in Cooma, Jindabyne, Berry, Cann River, Orbost, Bairnsdale, Sale, Moe and regularly along the Hume Highway.
  • And the NSW Government has announced funding for additional fast chargers in Bega, Narooma, Batemans Bay, Ulladulla, Cooma and Jindabyne.
